How to enter
Entering this competition is pretty simple.
Entries are accepted at art@painmonth.co.nz, just download the entry form from here: Entry Form 2011 Fill it in, and email it back to me, together with several photographs of your piece. i load the best one (or a composite of all of them, say for a sculpture with several angles) online the next day. the information you give me on yourself and the piece is unploaded along with the images, so people can get a feel of who you are, and where you’re coming from.
The competition opens on the first of September. Any entries recieved before that date will be loaded on the first of September, those entries will be loaded on the second and so on – so the last entries (from the 31st September) will be loaded the first of October. Each day, the piece uploaded that day with the most votes will win a daily prize. At the end of the competition, the piece with the most overall votes will win the peoples choice award and be featured in the exhibition and auction.
The judging will begin as soon as the last entries in (probably at 12am on the first of October, knowing me). I’ll email the fullsize jpgs out to the judges, who will have been watching the competition online. Once they come to a concensus i’ll notify the winners and post on the website and fb pages to let everyone else know.
The exhibition dates are still to be confirmed but will probably be the second week in october, so theres time to get the pieces to Auckland. The charity auction will be on the first night of the exhibition, hopefully along with performances from various artists, but the pieces will be on display for the next week. (i’m still confirming this and a venue, so the exact details may change as things get confirmed.)
Other than the entry form, all you need to do is create something incredible, & send it in. easy, right?
if you do have any questions, flick me an email on nix@painmonth.co.nz
How to Vote
Voting is (should be) easy – each entry has a little box with a number in it on the ’2011 Submissions’ page under the entry. When you click through to the actual entry there isnt a box so you have to vote from the original Submissions page. The voting is set up so you can cast one vote per day – so if you’ve already voted on a piece, you wont be able to vote on anything else for 24 hours. this prevents people from voting for the same piece 100 times, or voting for multiple pieces on the same day and therefore rigging the voting.
If you are on the same computer as someone else, only one of you will be able to vote per day as the system is set up off ISP numbers – same computer, same ISP number, only one vote per computer. Sorry. Remember you can always vote on fb – one ‘like’ is one vote.
Hope this helps!
I think this is a great Competition. Good luck to a Great Idea.
