Entering this competition is pretty simple.
Entries are accepted at art@painmonth.co.nz, just download the entry form from here: entryform-2012 MKI Fill it in, and email it back to me, together with several photographs of your piece. I load the best one (or a composite of all of them, say for a sculpture with several angles) online the next day onto both our facebook sites & this website, where it can be voted on by any who like it. IMPORTANT: Please make sure that the form is actually, physically signed by you; print it out, sign it then scan it & send it back or snailmail post me a signed version. If I dont have a signed entry form from you giving me permission to auction your piece, I will not be able to be included in the charity auction. Please note that we do not accept entries containing profanities, or explicit nudity.
The information you give me on yourself and the piece is unploaded along with the images, so people can get a feel of who you are, and where you’re coming from. It also helps the judges understand how your piece relates to the theme (plus the sizing info helps with choosing which of the daily prizes to give you if you end up winning one!)
The competition opens on the first of September. Any entries recieved before that date will be uploaded on the first of September, entries recieved on the first will be uploaded on the second and so on – so the last entries (from the 3oth September) will be loaded the first of October.
Each day, the piece uploaded that day with the most votes will win a daily prize. At the end of the competition, the piece with the most overall votes will win the peoples choice award and be featured in the exhibition and auction.
The judging will begin as soon as the last entry is in (probably at 12am on the first of October, knowing me). Judging is usually done through this website and the information on it, as the judges follow the competition throughout. Once they come to a concensus I notify the winners and post on the website and fb pages to let everyone else know – it usually takes about a week or so.
The exhibition dates are still to be confirmed but will be mid October, so theres time to get artworks to Auckland. The charity auction will either be on the first or last night of the exhibition, along with performances from various artists, but we are trying this year to get a week long exhibition for the event, somewhere! Details will change as i get things confirmed, and i’ll post information in the news thread on this site as it comes in. i cant guarantee it, but i’m hopeful this year as we’ve managed to start early enough (& i havent ended up in hospital yet!)
Other than the entry form, all you need to do is create something incredible, & send it in. easy, right?
if you do have any questions, flick me an email on nix@painmonth.co.nz and i’ll answer them as soon as i can
