2010 Competition – Art Inspired by Pain

The opening Pain Awareness Month Competition theme was ‘Art Inspired by Pain’

The focus was kept on the inspiration process. Many of those i know with chronic pain are also amazing artists, and they find in their art a way to express themselves, find release from their situation and forget for a while – and from out of that situation, pieces of amazing beauty and depth emerge. I like the thought of that much blood, sweat and tears transforming into something incredible, which in the end it did. The pieces we got in were incredible, and the response we got was better.

At the beginning of the competition, it was only me, my computer, some wierd dream of what i wanted to happen – and absolutely no idea how to make it happen. By the end of the month we’d had media coverage, and attracted some amazing supporters and sponsors, and received some heartfelt and hard hitting creations from more people than i thought would enter.. especially in those stressful first few days.
This was mostly down to my amazing friends, who supported me, distributed posters here there and everywhere, donated prizes for the daily prizes, and new friends i made who did all this and more. There are several people that this competition wouldn’t be here without, and they know who they are. i wont mention them here or this page will never end

Browse the links to see the entries that arrived, the prizes that were won and the details of the end of competition one-night exhibition and auction.. and let us know what you think of them!
