About the Competition

The theme of this competition is ‘Art Inspired by Pain’ – to show through creative means what pain has taught you and/or how it has changed the way you see the world.

The competition will be open to entries from the 1^st of September. Any entries received before this point will be registered as having arrived on the 1^st of the month.

The entries will be uploaded as they arrive, and open to voting. At the end of each day, the entry uploaded that day which received the most votes will be awarded a daily prize donated by some of our sponsors.

After the initial day of posting the pieces will still be open to voting, and at the end of the competition (the 30^th of September) the piece with the most votes will be auctioned at Tabac along with the judges’ selection.

First place as voted by the judges will win a prize (TBA) as well as being auctioned off at a silent auction. Tabac will be hosting the silent auction on the 9^th October, with the money going to the charity of the artists’ choice. The rest of the judges’ selections will also be auctioned off under the same conditions. The artists will be able to exempt their pieces from being auctioned on the entry forms if they wish.

Artists will be informed of the results on the 1^st October, and will need to confirm the availability of their pieces for the auction by the 3^rd October; and deliver them by the 8^th October.

The auction will be on the 9^th October at a function held at Tabac on Mills Lane in the CBD (tickets, $15). The function will include acts from some of the rising stars of the Auckland performance scene. Musicians, acrobats, poets and actors will perform throughout the evening, and there will be alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails available at a cash bar.

Tabac has wheelchair access, extremely comfortable seating and there will be food available through the night (TBC).
