Victoria Anderson – See Me, See My Pain
Name of Artist: Victoria Anderson
Title of Piece: See me, See My Pain
About the Piece: I wanted to make my invisible pain visible – from my knee with its surgical screws and arthritis to my broken and bleeding heart. Grieving my lost life and for my beautiful daughter who struggles with Aspergers and Bi-Polar Disorder in an unforgiving and judgmental world. This self portrait depicts that pain and the love I have that blossoms every day alongside it. I wrote this poem to go with it:
Bone white yellowed in worn out stages
Red gold fallen in old torn crevices
Cold blue fields of pain grey mood
Carved crow black in broken folds
Tear streaked hands hold little hope
Yet flowers still open in heart warmed sun
If I ask them in.
About the Artist: I am a painter with 5 years experience in art. I have osteo arthritis in my left knee and need a knee replacement although I am too young to have it yet. I have suffered pain my whole life as a result of an abusive childhood, most of which is inexplicable to most people.
